Cooking With No Gas

Friday’s confession…

I have a problem with food. No, not eating it — I do that quite well, thank you — I have a problem with cooking it.

It’s not that I can’t cook or don’t like to cook, but quite honestly I’ve just been too busy to cook. After a full day of kids and work; my desire and energy level to prepare a fabulous meal is zero. I know this is what wives and mothers do all over the world and many of them have more on their plate than I do – no pun intended; but this past week has been filled with soup and sandwiches, and pizza. I did assemble the pizza crust, sauce and cheese — that counts for something, right?

I’m going to Whole Foods today to see if I can stock up on some simple, healthy dishes to make, so Husband and the kids can have some semblance of a home cooked meal. Husband’s really very patient and will fend for himself when I go on these little cooking strikes, but I know he really doesn’t like it. The longest one was when I was pregnant with Milan; I don’t think I made one meal. No, I am not pregnant, just busy.

How about you? Do you ever boycott the kitchen? Busy takeout-ordering moms want to know…

Smiles,
Wifey

OMG - this is a subject I could on forever about. Cooking, dinner...all of it - is one of my BIGGEST challenges in life especially now that I have a family.

I guess that's saying something about how "difficult" I think my life is...

Seriously though, at least you CAN cook. Consider yourself skilled.

We have honestly had cereal for dinner nights!

Thanks for letting me know that I'm not alone. Cooking has always been a challenge for me; and there have been plenty of cereal and pancake dinners in my house, too! Smiles!

I get that way too, uninspired and blah and don't get dinner done every night. There goes my June Cleaver award. ; )

I'm right there with you! In fact, last night was pizza night (which is really code name for I DON'T FEEL LIKE COOKING NIGHT). :)

I think in my entire pregnancy with Baby Bug I MIGHT have cooked four or five dinners. Other than that it was sandwiches, microwave dinners, or DO IT YOURSELF. We also got paper plates and plastic silverware so I never had to do dishes either. I'm getting better now that she's here-she's 7 weeks and I have cooked dinner maybe 9 times-but I also find myself unmotivated because my husband works swing and is never home for dinner. When it's just me and the kids we can have a salad and a juice box. Saves time and energy.

Also, we JUST had pancakes for dinner the other night!
