Have you ever seen that crazy lady in the store? You know the one whose kids are misbehaving and she is desperately trying to stay calm, cool and keep from unraveling while her kids are paying her absolutely no mind.
Well, yeah. Yesterday that crazy lady in the store was me. I was ordering t-shirts for Miles’ T-ball team parents when both Miles and Milan decided to get a little too silly. I told them to stop. They completely ignored me. I told them again. They acted like I wasn’t even there. In the meantime, the woman behind the counter kept trying to finish the order while giving me that look — you know the one that says, poor lady, she can’t handle her kids.
After quietly yelling at them to stop literally 10 times then explaining the definition of the word, I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience, like I was watching that crazy lady in the store while wondering who are these kids and why the hell are they acting like this?
Most of the time, they behave. It may take three stops for them to actually do it, but I’m normally not that crazy lady in the store so when it happened I didn’t quite know what to do.
I’m glad to say we all survived. Husband says I’m way too lenient, and that I really need to turn into a crazy lady and scare the mess out of them so they’ll know never to do it again.
What about you? Have you ever been that crazy lady in the store, wondering who are these kids and how did we get here? What did you do? This crazy lady would love to know …

I have been the crazy lady more than once. One time it was at the library and my then 2 yr old was throwing a fit because she didn't want to leave. She hated getting in the car seat and as I struggled with her she rolled out of the car ond onto the parking lot kicking ans screaming. I finally got her safe and sound in the car and then I starting bawling hysterically thinking "I am a loser mother and cannot and will never be able to control this girl!"
Yes! Thank goodness we were wrong, but I totally wanted to turn on the waterworks, too. I thought "I really suck at this mothering thing!"
I am that crazy lady. Always.
We need a Crazy Mama Anon group.
My solution is that I don't take them with me. hehe.
Well, lets see. With three out of four children, it has been so bad on one or two occasions that I pinched them out of desperation. And with each child, all three times, I received the same response. "Ahhh, (at the top of their lungs,) Don't pinch me! You would think I would have learned after the first one, but they are all many years apart and I have a very short memory.
The other day, I had to remove my 21/2 year-old from the library, as she started to cry hysterically while screaming, "I've got a booger!"
We've all been there! Some just more than others.
Are you kidding? Am I EVER the crazy lady! When we go into our regular grocery store the people at the customer service desk always ask us how our son is doing today. Because they want warning as to what kind of mood he's in. And then when they hear that slowly growing scream they know-our son WILL explode. At first, they all thought we were crazy people who couldn't handle their kids, now they're just like "oh, yeah...that's just Monkey. He does that."
And that's why that is the ONLY public place we take him-because they know and love us there!
We have all been there. I try to remember that when it is going on.
