Wedding Love

Husband and I are back from the wedding (he was an usher in his cousin’s wedding on Saturday so we got to have a quick little get-away weekend). The weekend flew by, but it was nice to spend some alone time with Husband – even if it was with 100 family members and friends.

The wedding was beautiful. Everything from the bride to the service to the yummy little crab cake hors d’oeuvres. I just love a good wedding. The love, the romance, the excitement and doing the electric slide – it’s just such a fun time.

But, my favorite part about weddings are the vows, when two people stand before God and make a commitment to love, honor and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. So often people get caught up in the whirlwind of the “wedding” and miss the most important part – the actual marriage ceremony. Watching two people pledge their love and lives to each other always makes me nostalgic, taking me right back to that wonderful day when Husband and I said “I do.” I just love it.

How about you? What is your favorite part about weddings? Sentimental wives want to know…

Winks & Smiles,
Wifey

The electric slide...now THAT brings back memories!

The last wedding I attended was nice, four of my kids were in it (not so nice...STRESS), but the best part was when the father of the bride (I've been friends with mother and father since the bride was barely a teenager), danced with his daughter at the reception.

She is his ONLY child, and he had to stop dancing because the man started crying so hard.

It was one of those touching moments that makes you wonder how well you'll do at your own children's weddings.

Aww, that's sweet! The daddy daughter dance is a real tear-jerker!

Since I almost cried at the sight of Milan's pre-k graduation pictures, I think I might be in trouble when it's time for my kids to walk down the isle. Smiles!

I went to a beautiful wedding this weekend also, and the part that choked me was during the reception, where the floor was opened for anyone who wished to tell a story about or share a thought with the newlyweds. Hearing the parents, family members, close friends and how each contributed to bring the couple where they are today - our lives are so interlinked and it really is a small world.

The wedding cake is my favorite part!:) Seriously though, I think I have to say the father "giving away" the daughter is my favorite. It's the passing of the proverbial torch and I feel a very hard thing for a father to do - putting the welfare of his daughter in another man's hands.
